Question:
Hello, I'm an 18 year old male. I had thermal capsular shrinkage With Bankart repair about 7 months ago. Presently I'm having some problems with ROM and Bursitus. I am a avid wrestler who wants to continue the sport in college and possibly after. I was wondering if this is possible with my shoulder condition. I have a similiar problem with my left shoulder but I have not opted for surgery because of the problems I'm having with my right shoulder

Answer:
Stiffness may result following thermocapsular shrinkage, but it is less likely in a younger patient such as yourself. As far as bursitis, it depends on what you mean by that. Wrestlers use their rotator cuff muscles during their sport, and often times you can get tendinitis or bursitis. The treatment is rest, activity modification, anti-inflammatories, ice, and stretches. The last item: stretches, is often ignored, and is probably the most important. Shoulder stretches should be performed before any strength workout or practice. Some common ones are presented by Dr. Anthony Romeo (this month's shoulder hero).
