Georgia's Carter Recovers Enough to Play

    October 26, 2000

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia quarterback Quincy Carter, who didn't play last week because of a shoulder injury, said he's ready to start Saturday against No. 8 Florida after going through a full practice.

"Definitely," said Carter, who started 30 consecutive games for the No. 13 Bulldogs until bruising his left rotator cuff. "I'm just ready to rock and roll on Saturday."

While no contact is allowed on quarterbacks in practice, Carter took part in all drills and had full range of motion in his non-throwing shoulder.

"Quincy had a chance to go through the full practice," coach Jim Donnan said. "He threw the ball well. We'll look at him (Thursday) and see how he does."

The Bulldogs also received favorable reports on two freshmen, running back Musa Smith and defensive lineman Johnathan Sullivan.

Both have been cleared to play against the Gators after undergoing surgery last week to repair damaged knee cartilage.

"It's nice to know we've got them," Donnan said.
