I've had the same reaction after each cortisone shot.Usually lasts about 24 hours then goes away. Icing the area along with rest, will help.

I've never had severe pain after a shot. But I have always been told to rest it for 48 hours and ice it as well. You might want to call your doctor if it doesn't get better in a day or so, or if it continues to get worse.

I've had just one cortisone injection (it was a few years ago), and fortunately I didn't experience any adverse reaction. I do remember that I was told that if I experienced pain or inflammation, I should rest the injected area and possibly ice it. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like aspirin or ibuprofen may also help.

I had a cortisone shot in my GH joint today. I have had "cortisone flare" before where its a little stiff and uncomfortable, but not being able to pick up my arm or push a cart at the grocery store, is that a bit much??Has anyone else ever had severe pain in their joint after the shot.
