I was benchpressing, and something happened. Since then I've had an MRI and arthroscopic surgery. Still, a sharp, stabbing pain right in the center of my upper arm persists when I make abrupt movements. The pain originates from a spot about two inches below my ac joint in the dead center of the widest part of my arm, not in the bicep area that everybody flexes to show their "rock".
After I hurt my shoulder/arm, I went to a specialist. I had been having some nagging tendonitis and was living with a large bone spur. The surgeon thought the bone spur was the cause of my arm pain, so he recommended surgery to remove it. During the surgery, he also cleaned up some arthritis. My rotator, labrum, and bicep tendon looked ok.
It is now seven weeks post surgery. I think the surgery was a success. The bulging bonespur that looked like half a golf ball stuck to the top of my scapula is gone. The tendonitis around the ac joint has been reduced. Unfortunately, the stabbing pain that drove me to seek medical assistance in the first place remains. It is exactly as it was before, no better or worse.
I recently saw my surgeon again. He thinks the upper arm pain will get better over time. He calls it a hitch. He thinks the cause of the problem, the bone spur, is gone, and now the injury will heal. He feels the pain in my upper arm is radiating down from my shoulder.
All I know is...it hurts like hades. I can't workout that part of my body at all. I can't even play tennis with my other arm because it hurts to even jar it. The only thing that helps is ICYHOT rub or my girlfriend massaging it. This is seriously hindering my quality of life. Any input would be appreciated. I am trying to be paitent, but I'm considering chiropractic, accupuncture, or some other alternative treatment.
Thanks in advance,
Volumnus
