Frozen Shoulder
I had surgery to repair a ruptured disc C6 on Jan. 19, 2001. While in the hospital I found out I am a Type 2 Diabetic. They got my sugar down so we could do the surgery. While recovering from the surgery I noticed sharp, shocking, stabbing pains in my right arm while reaching for the phone one morning. It was so painful I thought I re-injured myself in some way. Well 8 weeks later after many calls to the Neuro Surgeon's office I finally got in to see him. He said it was frozen shoulder. I was referred to an orthopaedic surgeon for an injection. I had no idea the injections would be so painful. But the right shoulder did get better. I was also sent to PT for this condition. It has developed in the left shoulder also I got an injection in the left shoulder 4 days a go . The muscle spasms are still there and the sharp stabbing pains are there too. But not as much as before. I am going to PT two times a week, and I'm also on a TENS Unit. It seems to help at night. I have forgotten what it was like to sleep at night with this condition. I haven't worked in 7 months and I'm currently on medical leave. I don't know when I'll return to work but I won't go until I'm pain free. It's just to hard to do. I worked 10 months with a ruptured disc and I don't remember this much pain until right before I had the surgery. I was told it's going to hurt because frozen shoulder is very painful and to be patient because it takes time.
