Frozen Shoulder
Jan.2001 my shoulder started to hurt, I thought it was a pulled muscle or something of that sort. I am active and shoveled alot of snow with no problems. By the end of Feb. I could not lift my arm above the breast area. It was very painful. I went to my family doc and he dx me with Impingement sydome. I went to PT for three weeks and it got 30% worse. My doc sent me for an MRI and said I should see a orthopedic doc. I got the MRI and saw a new doc. He took a look at the MRI and my arm range and said I needed a manipulation of the shoulder. He did the procedure in the hospital. On May 8 this took 15 mins. from the time he put me to sleep till I was awake in recovery. I felt fine that day and the next day. I could raise my arm above my head but not backward. He said my shoulder was so tight he rotated forward and could not go backwards without a fracture. I started PT every day, this is the third week. This is the most worse pain I have ever had and it gets worse each day. My backward range has not come back and I have not slept more than 2 hrs at a time since May 10th. I did not go to PT today because I cannot face more pain and discomfort. I ask my doctor will the pain go away and he said yes but he has no idea when. My questions are how long should this pain continue? Should I quit PT? Is there any one else out there with this problem. Any advise?
