Frozen Shoulder
In September 1999 I injured my non dominant arm, believed to be a pulled biscept muscle that time and advil would take care of. About thanksgiving time I relized that not only did the biscept pain not go away, but the shoulder was seriously stuck (ie, range of motion vertical and sides lost). Several cortison shots and 6 weeks of PT did not help. Several months of streching at chiropractor did not help. Went to a very well known sports orthopedic in Wilmington Delaware (Dr. Craig Morgan). Following a 3rd cortison shot and a failed but aggresive home PT program for another 5 weeks, I had arthroscopic surgery on 12/11/00. Dr. Morgan said following the surgery that my shoulder was the tightest case he had ever experienced, and that he could not get to and remove scar tissue in the front of the shoulder because his tools could not get there. PT for the past 5 weeks has been very painful and not successful. I have been discussing additional surgery with Dr. Morgan (a combination of athroscopic and open cut in front if necessary) but I am concerned that the fibroblast cells may regenerate more rapidly than a delayed PT cansolve. I need to quickly understand all I can about the options, risks and likely outcomes before proceeding, and am inteested in additional opinions. Thank you
