(4) Open Rotator Cuff repairs
I have had Open Rotator cuff repair two times on each shoulder over the course of two years and due to the quality of the tissue the tendons tore again in new locations, hence the repeat surgeries. I even looked in to a muscle transfer of the latissimus dorsi to be implanted in my dominant arm which has lost 75% of its function. I was informed by two specialists that that had less than a 50% chance of success. I wonder just how and when I injured both shoulders so severely, as bilaterally the supraspinatus and infraspinatus were completely torn with the right shoulder having a massive full thickness tear of supra and infra as well as the biceps tendon torn completely. I am now told there is nothing more that can be done, but I have heard about a technique that uses bovine or porcine mucossa as a scaffold for weak and shredded tissue. Anyone know of a specialists in that approach on the West Coast?
